St. Martin-in-the-Fields, a church currently undergoing a more-than $70-million project to restore the London landmark; to help raise funds, several important British figures, including J.K. Rowling and Stephen Fry, have donated panes of glass that they have decorated themselves. J.K. Rowling’s, which is signed and decorated with a snitch, may be seen in hi-res in our gallery here.

The church is hosting a contest, the “Give Light” competition; each entry is £10. You may choose to enter for J.K. Rowling’s signed plate. Do so by going to this link. The contest ends on August 31.

In celebrating the 10th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's stone on September 23rd, Scholastic has announced a really cool opportunity for Harry Potter fans to sit in the throne used by JK Rowling at Carnegie Hall.

Starting at 8 AM on September 23rd within the Scholastic Headquarters, fans will sit in that throne and take turns reading from Sorcerer's Stone until the book is finished! Those participating will receive a commemorative souvenir, and the first 100 people will also get a copy of Sorcerer's Stone anniversary edition!

Alan Horn, president of Warner Bros., has issued a statement for fans in direct response to criticism of the company's choice to delay the release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince until next July.

He says: ...

There are two pieces of news online tonight regarding Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling and honors she recently received. First, the Mythopoeic Society, which is a non-profit agency promoting the study and enjoyment of mythic literature, has chosen Ms. Rowling the winner of its Mythopoeic Fantasy Award for Children’s Literature. This award “honors books for younger readers (from “Young Adults” to picture books for beginning readers), in the tradition of The Hobbit or The Chronicles of Narnia.” J. K. Rowling was chosen by society members for this award which nominates and awards authors for their work annually. ...

lectronic Arts, the makers of the Harry Potter video games, have confirmed directly to TLC that the company is still in the process of re-evaluating a possible new release date for the “Half-Blood Prince” game, despite the move by WB to postpone the movie until July 17 of next year.
