Film 5  :  "Order of the Phoenix" Nominated for People's Choice at European Film Awards

The “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” film has been included on a list of nominees for the People’s Choice Award at the 21st Annual European Film Awards. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the fifth Potter film faces such films as “Welcome to the Sticks,” “Arn,” “Rabbit Without Ears”, “The Orphanage,” “[REC],” and “Atonement” in this category. Voting will open up for this award on Monday, September 1st via this link. The 2008 European Film Awards will be held this year in Copenhagen, Denmark on December 6th.

As we reported previously, the “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix” film and a number of its cast, along with Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling, were nominees at the 2008 SyFy Genre Awards. These virtual awards allow fans to vote for their favorite film, series, book, and actor from the science fiction and fantasy genre each year. The winners of the SyFy Awards have been announced and include actress Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), in the category of Best Actress in a Film, as well as “Order of the Phoenix” in the category of Best Film. In addition to this, the article notes that Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling was chosen to receive the Gene Roddenberry Lifetime Achievement award. Congratulations to all!

We previously told you that J.K. Rowling, Order of the Phoenix, Dan Radcliffe & Emma Watson were all nominated for SyFy Genre awards.

Voting has now opened - go here to have your say on who should win. You can vote daily up until July 25th. The winners will be announced on August 13th.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has received a few nominations this year at the annual SyFy Genre Awards. Dan Radcliffe is nominated for Best Actor, and Emma Watson received a nod for Best Actress for their performances in the fifth Harry Potter film. “Order of the Phoenix” is also nominated for Best Film along side “I Am Legend,” “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” “Iron Man” and “Stardust.”...

As part of their summer movie preview, Yahoo Movies has posted a gallery of 20 great movie creatures. Included on this list is a magical creature familiar to Harry Potter fans: Kreacher, the house elf at Grimmauld Place. Other creatures of note are Gollum from the Lord of the Rings trilogy, ET, Jabba the Hut from Return of the Jedi, the original King Kong from the classic film made in 1933, Asterious the Minotaur from the newly released Prince Caspian, and the Flying Monkeys from The Wizard of Oz (which in this editor’s opinion are still some of the scariest beings ever found in a children’s movie, but it could just be me
