The New York Times has a new feature online about the use of computer technology to create characters in motion pictures, and mentions the upcomng Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix film. In this article about a company called Image Metrics, they mention the use of their computer skills to "allow live actors to animate virtual characters," and state the company will be using this technique for the character of Grawp in the fifth Harry Potter film. The paper reports:
"Warner Brothers is using Image Metrics, along with several other companies, to animate a new character in the forthcoming “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” a monstrous relation of Hagrid, animated by an actor."...

شرکت برادران وارنر با استفاده از شرکت Image Metrics و با همکاری چندین کمپانی دیگر در حال ساخت شخصیت گراپ در فیلم هری پاتر و محفل ققنوس هستند ؛ گراپ که از خاندان غول ها و از خویشاوندان هاگرید میباشد , شخصیت تازه وارد در سری فیلمهای هری پاتر است .

The developers say it is far superior to standard hand-drawn computer graphics which are very costly and time-consuming.
The chairman of Image Metrics commented: "One of our principal tenets is to capture all the movements of the face. You can't put markers on eyes, and you can't replicate the human eye accurately through hand-drawn animation. That's pretty important."
While not identified as such, the article also includes a video report which includes some footage of what may be actor Tony Maudsley in the process of creating Grawp. Readers will remember that TLC previously confirmed that Tony Maudsley would be portraying Grawp in OotP, and there was discussion about the amount of CGI involved with this giant of a character.
