In a poll conducted by Internet services provider Google, Britons were asked to represent “Britishness” in graphic symbols. The most popular images in the resulting drawings were the British flag, depictions of the monarchy, bangers and bobbies. History took precedence over the modern, with a third of respondents depicting Big Ben, but only 3 percent drawing modern celebrities.
The Queen headed the list of persons depicted. She was followed by Shakespeare, Harry Potter and James Bond. Welsh dragons and the Loch Ness monster were also prominent. A total of 15,000 people participated in the poll. Google will announce the best drawing today

In a separate poll conducted at a shopping center, British actress Helen Mirren was declared the sexiest actress over 60. Mirren, 61, is the granddaughter of an emigrant Russian aristocrat and was born Ilynea Lydia Mironoff. She was nominated twice for Academy Awards and is a Dam Commander of the British Empire. Mirren was followed in the poll by four other actresses, American Goldie Hawn, British Charlotte Rampling and American Susan Sarandon and British Honor Blackman.
While Hawn, Rampling and Sarandon are approximately contemporaries, Blackman is 79. Blackman played Pussy Galore in the James Bond film Goldfinger. She was also named the sexiest woman over 70 in a poll by Good Housekeeping magazine and has a modeling contract with the British Marks and Spencer chain of stores.
The sixth- through tenth-rated sexy women over 60 in the Lakewood Shopping Centre poll were Joanna Lumley, Vanessa Redgrave, Lauren Hutton, Sophia Loren and Debbie Harry.
